Customs official to be sentenced

The Special Investigative Service has ended the preliminary investigation of the criminal case instigated for the violation of transportation rules and the cause of the death of two people. The prosecutor in charge of overseeing the legality of the preliminary investigation has confirmed the accusatory conclusion.
Based on the preliminary investigation, it turned out and was substantiated that on October 9 at around 2 a.m., 1st degree expert of the department in charge of customs control of the State Income Committee Vahe Davtyan was drunk while driving his "Porsche" and violated transportation rules 18, 65 and 66 and actions that go against the demands stated in Point 3 of Article 23 of the RA law on "Ensuring security of road transportation". He exceeded the maximum speed, didn't have full control of the car, passed a red light on Gayi Avenue and N. Stepanyan Street, caused an accident scene and didn't have the possibility of preventing the road accident. He clashed into the "VAZ 2107" brand name car with license numbers S2795, after which he turned right and hit the "VAZ 2107" (S2813), "VAZ 2107" (S2815) and "VAZ 11183) (S2820) cars, causing the death of driver of the "VAZ 2107" brand name taxi Vardges Petrosyan and passenger Hovhannes Khachatryan.
Based on procured evidence, Davtyan is charged with Part 3, Article 242 of the RA Criminal Code. The criminal case has been sent to the first instance court of Avan and Nor Nork districts for investigation.
