Charges filed against Sahakyan
The preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated on the case of taking bribery by the investigator of the Investigative Service of the RA Ministry of Defense was completed in the RA Special Investigation Service. The prosecutor in charge of controlling the legality has confirmed the accusatory conclusion.
The preliminary investigation showed and corroborated that L. Sahakyan, the investigator of the Garrison 5 of the Investigation Service of the RA Ministry of Defense, on November 4, 2009 demanded 775.000 drams (2000 USD) from the accused A. Tovmasyan in order to change the latter's precautionary measure and terminate the case. On the same day, L. Sahakyan received from A. Tovmasyan part of the money (600 USD) in his office. The rest of the bribery (1400 USD) L. Sahakyan received on November 18, 2009 at about 12:30 a.m., which was found and confiscated in the place indicated by L. Sahakyan.
On the obtained evidence L. Sahakyan was charged according to the RA Criminal Code, Article 311, part 3, point 3. The criminal case was sent to the Court of First Instance of Gegharkunik region for the proper examination, reports the RA Prosecutor General's Office.
