Today A1+ conducted a poll among the voters of Yerevan's Constituency 10 to know their opinion on the upcoming election and candidates.

Most of the surveyed people turned out to be unaware of the election. They were even caught unawares on hearing our question as they thought opposition MP and businessman Khachatur Sukiasian still represented their commune in the Armenian parliament.

"What elections? We do not know that there will be an election," said Gegham Petrosyan in surprise.

"I haven't heard about the election. But now that you told me about the candidates, I shall vote for Nikol Pashinyan", said Tereza Nersisyan.

Mrs. Varduhi, a resident of Yerevan's Kentron District, said she was aware of the election day but she knew none of the candidates running for Parliament. She says she needs to get acquainted with their family background to make a right choice.

Arthur Kazarian, who had taken his baby for a walk, said he wasn't interested in the election and never participates in them since "a government candidate usually wins in the end."

Four candidates are running at this polling station: chief editor of "Haykakan Zhamanak" daily Nikol Pashinyan, chairman of Union of Political Scientists of Armenia Hmayak Hovannisyan, chairman of the Marxist party David Hakobyan and member of the National Unity Party "Ara Simonian.
Election campaign launched on December 7 and will last till January 8. The election is slated for January 10, 2010.
