Received the delegation from Karabakh
Serzh Sargsyan today received the delegation of the National Assembly of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic led by chairman of the NA Ashot Ghulyan.
The delegation participated in the 7th session of the inter-governmental commission on cooperation between the legislative bodies of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh in Yerevan.
Welcoming the Nagorno-Karabakh parliamentarians and wishing them success in the joint efforts with the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, President Sargsyan said:
"I also hope that the deputies of the National Assembly of Nagorno-Karabakh will have new opportunities to be more involved in different regional and international processes, even to raise the voice of the people of Artsakh and the incessant will to stand up for their own fate on their own land. Everyone must be aware that the people of Nagorno-Karabakh shed blood to defend their right to a free life during the war that they were forced to fight. They must also be aware that the people of Karabakh believe that they have been able to restore a part of the historical justice that was destroyed during Stalin's dictatorship and guaranteed the minimum necessary conditions for physical survival. We have declared several times that as a result of the talks on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, we must find solutions that will not lead to new deportations and ethnic cleansing. There are such solutions and the only thing left is for the people to be able to see them, to differentiate between dreams and reality, fair solutions and pretensions. I am certain that there will be no alternative to that in due time.
But we must also be well aware that the only way we can achieve success in the talks on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is through the direct participation of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. I am certain that there will be no alternative to this in due time and hope that the leaders will realize their commitments to the peaceful and prosperous future of the Caucasian nations and the conflicts between Azerbaijan and Karabakh will finally be solved. There is no other way."
The head of state once again wished the parliamentarians success and fruitful work.
Chairman of the NKR legislative body evaluated the activities of the inter-governmental commission as effective and mentioned that it is very useful in terms of receiving information and application. Ashot Ghulyan said that the inter-governmental commission discusses issues that are urgent and those that concern not only the parliamentarians, but are in the center of attention of the nation. According to him, the activities of the commission are becoming more and more active and the discussions are more subject-oriented.
Upon the request of the NKR National Assembly deputies, President Sargsyan touched upon the latest developments of the process of talks on the resolution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The head of state underlined that he informs the President of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic about the content of the talks and the issues that were discussed.
