Georgia sees linkage
Georgian political circles say the reopening of the Armenian-Turkish border doesn't conflict with their national interests.
They greet the process aimed at stabilizing the situation in the region at the same time underlining certain concerns behind the Armenian-Turkish rapprochement.
David Darchiashvili, Chairman of the European Integration Committee of the Georgian Parliament, thinks the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations is directly linked to the Karabakh conflict settlement and efforts taken in this direction.
David Berdzenishvili, political secretary of Georgia's Republican Party, welcomed the Armenian-Turkish rapprochement.
"The process was initiated by Levon Ter-Petrosyan but he "failed" enabling Serzh Sargsyan lto take dividends," David Berdzenishvili told A1+.
"I salute Armenian authorities' decision of taking the risk regardless of the fact whether Serzh Sargsyan was elected legally or illegally. Political figures should sometimes "go against the tide" since today's events may be of no importance tomorrow."
