Annother lie by Azerbaijan?
Armenians are likely to vacate Karvachar (Kelbajar) region by the turn of the year. It will enable Turkey to ratify the Armenian-Turkish Protocols and Azerbaijan to mitigate its position in the context of the Karabakh conflict resolution. Some Azerbaijani mass media disseminated the information following yesterday's meeting of Presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Ilham Aliyev.
"After each meeting of the presidents, Armenians rely on fake statements on talks circulated by "well-informed" sources," Spokesman for the Armenian President, Samvel Farmanian said today.
"This is simple disinformation and has nothing to do with reality. No such issue is discussed; therefore, there could be no such arrangement. It was stated numerously that the core issue of the negotiation process and discussions on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement is the status of Nagorno-Karabakh. The other issues are derivative.

Asked what Armenia will do in case the tension over the Karabakh conflict deepens, Mr. Farmanian said: "Surely, the increase in tension surrounding the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, of course, is the most undesirable way out of the situation. "It will be the most undesirable reality for both Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia and the whole region.
But the Republic of Armenia cannot remain indifferent to the fate of Karabakhi people, therefore the RA president has announced many times that we shoulder responsibility for the security of NKR people.
Under the given developments Armenia can either recognize the NKR independence with all its further aftermaths or sign an agreement of mutual support with the Nagorno Karabakh Republic.There are options, and I do hope that the Republic of Armenia will benefit from those few options either separately or simultaneously.
Let me mention that the Republic of Armenia hasn't recognized Karabakh's independence not to impede the peaceful negotiations.
If suddenly the peaceful negotiations are halted and military actions resumed nbothing will prevent Armenia from recognizing Karabakh's independence. But the fact is that the negotiations are under way.
Armenia has always announced that we see no alternative to the peaceful resolution of the conflict. We think that negotiations will enable us to reach a peaceful and complete solution," said the RA president's spokesman.
