Advocate's petition rejected
Support A1+!Judge Gagik Poghosyan denied the petition presented today by advocate Arshak Tovmasyan.
The petition referred to prosecutor Harutyun Harutyunyan who, according to the advocate, was biased and could not participate in the trial.
The first instance court of the Kentron and Nork-Marash districts continued the trial of police officers of the RA Police Kentron division Gegham Harutyunyan and Hovhannes Ghukasyan. They are charged with beating people at Freedom Square on the morning of March 1.
Advocate Tovmasyan asked the court for time to prepare for the next petition. The petition will refer to the quashing of the criminal case and termination of the persecution.
Judge Poghosyan recorded that advocate Tovmasyan always asks for time to prepare for the petitions. Prosecutor Harutyunyan asked the advocate to prepare better for the trials. Advocate Tovmasyan said that he was waiting for the judge's decision on the previous petition to decide whether he would make the next petition or not.
Advocate Tovmasyan told "A1+" that his petition would include all the judicial acts related to the events of March 1-2 that have been released to this day. "In those acts, the courts have substantiated that the crowds have applied violence against the police. Based on the decisions approved by those judicial acts, the police have acted within the limits of the law, their functions and powers," Arshak Tovmasyan assured.
The next trial will be held on November 24 at 10 a.m.
