Ready to host
Chairman of the National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan received German Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia, Hans-Yochen Schmidt.
Welcoming the guest, the Chairman of the RA National Assembly congratulated the ambassador on his appointment and expressed hope that Ambassador Schmidt would put in efforts to develop the German-Armenian partnership.
Mr. Abrahamyan mentioned that the bilateral relations have a firm basis. He praised the political, cultural and trade relations, as well as the programs being implemented by the German Development Agency in Armenia.
During the meeting, the interlocutors agreed that it is necessary to further develop the inter-parliamentary cooperation and use all opportunities for diplomatic ties between parliaments. Ambassador Schmidt transmitted the greetings of the chairman of the Bundestag. Mr. Abrahamyan mentioned that the Armenian side is ready to host the chairman of the German parliament on his official visit to Yerevan.
The parties also discussed the normalization of Turkish-Armenian relations without preconditions, paying special attention to the role of the Turkish and Armenian parliaments, as reported by the department of public relations of the RA National Assembly.
