Priest won’t go to the army
Accepting the petition from the Catholicosate of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin as a basis and guided by the RA legislation, the government has freed Priest Manuk Zeynalyan of St. Etchmiadzin from mandatory military service.
In addition, the government has deferred a total of 19 RA citizens from mandatory military service until military recruitment in fall 2010, including the monks of the Mother See of St. Etchmiadzin, the monks and students of the St. Hakobyants monastery of Jerusalem and the students of the Lyceum of Humanitarian Studies of Calcata in India.
By another decision, the government has deferred military service for two RA citizens starting from the current military recruitment until the end of their studies, that is, the Fall 2010 military recruitment.
