RA exploits employees
Support A1+!"There is no use speaking of social protection of an Armenian citizen under the present labour exploitation," RA Ombudsman Armen Harutiunian told a news conference October 23.
In Armenia employees view workers as a means of getting superprofit," adds the Ombudsman.
Presenting socio-economic situation and the level of human rights' protection in Armenia, Harutiunian exemplified the case when people are forced to work 18 hours a day. He notes that employees are exploited without being paid. "Employers owe 144 million drams to workers," says the Ombudsman.
In one organisation only four out of 24 drivers had the required documents. One of the five surveyed organisations had operated without a patent for a year.
"This leads to the breach of human rights and endangers passengers' security," underlined Mr. Harutiunian.
The latter is hopeful that the State Labour Inspectorate will conduct surveys in all structures without any reservations.
Harutiunian underlined that Armenian anti- monopolistic structures are formal in Armenia and cannot guarantee consumers' rights."
The Armenian Ombudsman also touched upon issues related to ecology. "In fact, we come across breaches of Article 33.2 of the RA Constitution which envisages that everyone has a right to live in an environment advantageous to his health and well-being".
