Demanding Nikol’s release
Hundreds of people gathered near the first instance court of the Shengavit district today with the demand to release editor-in-chief of "Haykakan Zhamanak" daily Nikol Pashinyan with photos of Nikol, the tricolor and signs reading "Nikol's trial is our trial," "Armenia's justice is being tried", "Free or not, we will fight until the end", "Nikol and us are not free" and more.
There were that many policemen to control them. They had surrounded the bars of the court building and only let journalists and a few people pass the "gate".
The people were screaming "Freedom", "Nikol", "Hima"(Now), and "Miatsum" (Unity) from time to time. One of the citizens, Vardan Vardanyan, told "A1+" that he had come to demand a fair trial and freedom because Nikol Pashinyan hadn't committed any crime.
Ofelya Margaryan said that she had come for the Homeland and for a young hero like Nikol who is being tried for no reason. "Nikol is behind bars and we are on the other side of the bars. They can't do anything to him. He is free and will be free either behind the bars or not."
Citizen Volodya Hakobyan says that this is the trial of the people. "We would like to see what we have preached in schools and churches turn into a reality. Unfortunately, the church is separate and the Catholicos is looking for benefits. The spiritual leader must not be indifferent toward the people's fate. He must stand between the nation and the government so that the people will not be crushed like this."
