Nalbandyan left for Kishnev
Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan issued a statement at the 32nd UNESCO General Assembly during his working visit to Paris.
On October 7 Nalbandyan met with his French counterpart Bernard Kushner and this marked the second meeting this year. Ministers Nalbandyan and Kushner praised the friendly bilateral relations and attached importance to the steps to be taken to develop the all-embracing ties between both countries. They discussed the relations between Armenia and the European Union and perspectives for development.
The interlocutors also discussed the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Edward Nalbandyan praised France's constructive approach as an OSCE Co-Chair.
Nalbandyan and Kushner exchanged views on the normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia and Kushner expressed hope that there would be tangible results soon.
Before the meeting the French and Armenian foreign ministers had signed an agreement between Armenia and France on lifting the demand for entrance visas for those with diplomatic passports, making it the first step toward facilitating the procedure for receiving entrance visas for EU countries.
Nalbandyan also met with the French president's adviser for diplomatic issues Jan-David Levit. During the meeting the sides discussed a broad range of issues related to broadening of cooperation. They expressed content with the high level of relations and discussed a number of regional and international issues.
On the same day Edward Nalbandyan took part in the 32nd UNESCO General Assembly which was dedicated to the discussion on main courses of the organization's activities in the upcoming two years. Edward Nalbandyan made a long speech in which he touched upon the Armenia-UNESCO partnership and the role of UNESCO in preservation of cultural heritage.
Minister Nalbandyan condemned Azerbaijan's policy on destruction of Armenian cultural heritage and called on the international community to take joint steps to prevent those actions. Nalbandyan also met with the newly elected Director General of UNESCO Irina Bokova. The foreign minister expressed satisfaction with the projects being implemented in Armenia and expressed willingness to continue the effective collaboration. He also expressed gratitude for the support from UNESCO in organizing the international conference entitled "Cultural policy and policy on culture" to be held in November in Yerevan. Nalbandyan invited the UNESCO Director General to Armenia.
On October 7 Edward Nalbandyan ended his working visit to Paris and left for Kishnev.
