The term stated in the June 19 National Assembly resolution on the application of amnesty was yesterday, but that doesn't mean that there will not be amnesty for those who have committed crimes in the terms stated in the resolution.

"The proposition on terms always stated in the resolution. It is foreseen for those who are already under arrest or their case is under examination. The amnesty will still be applied in the years to come. For instance, there are crimes that have been committed before the approval of amnesty and if they are revealed, there will be also be amnesty for that," said advocate Lusine Sahakyan to "A1+".

Sahakyan also belives that amnesty was declared after pressure from international organizations on Armenia due to the events of March 1, 2008.

"Of course, amnesty was applied for the cases of March 1, but the authorities weren't strong enough to turn the page of March 1 and not have political prisoners."

Who enjoyed the fruits of amnesty? In response, the advocate said:

"The criminals enjoyed the fruits. Apparently, the amnesty was not too broad. For instance, the amnesty did not refer to Part 3 of Article 258 to keep certain political prisoners in jail. The fact is that the people who enjoyed the fruits of amnesty were mainly those who had to stay punished."
