"Raffi Hovannisian will not abandon his voters," Chairman of the Heritage parliamentary faction, Stepan Safarian said to A1+.

He refuted Heritage ex member Zoya Tadevosian's allegation that in his September 9 letter to some party members Mr. Hovannisian spoke about his withdrawal from the Heritage.

"On July 1 Raffi Hovannisian had a meeting with party members and made his proposals. But the three expelled board members didn't give in and continued their steps contradicting party's interests.  On September 9, before his departure, Mr. Hovannisian applied to the excluded three members in written form.

Raffi Hovannisian didn't cancel his departure as he was sure that the situation inside the party was under control. I think he will be back in a week. Mr. Hovannisian is aware of the trio's steps and sees no menace for the party."

With regard to Ms. Tadevosian's announcement that Raffi Hovannisian's resignation means an end to the party, Mr. Safarian said: "The announcement shows that the trio pursues definite goals and wants to split the party."

Stepan Safarian noted that still at the beginning of the year the expelled party members-Zoya Tadevosian, Vardan Khachatrian and Movses Aristakesian - urged the party activists to resign from the Heritage.

"No one can split the Heritage Party, be it Zoya Tadevosian, Armen Martirosian, Anahit Bakhshian or someone else. Raffi Hovannisian's role in the party is undisputed."
