Armenia marks the Feast of the Holy Cross
On September 13, Armenia marked the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy CrossKhachverats in Armenian), a feast which continues for several days thereafter. It is counted as one of the five major feasts of the Armenian Church, and the most important of the four feasts of the Holy Cross.
On September 14, Armenia marks the Feast of the Holy Cross, Day of the Remembrance of the dead known as Merelots in Armenia. Today Armenian churches celebrate the liturgy, pay a memorial service to the deceased and visits their tombs.
