"We have gone neither forward not backward in Armenian-Turkish relations," Deputy Chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK), Galust Sahakyan, told a press conference on September 4.

"All those who criticize the Protocols between Armenia and Turkey want to keep their place in the political scene."

Galust Sahakyan says the Protocols on Armenian-Turkish relations still need to be ratified by the two parliaments.

In reply to A1+ whether the process of normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations is not a buff, Mr. Sahakyan said: "This is not our game. EU Resolutions demand that all borders be open. Armenia says that it is ready to establish diplomatic relations with Turkey without preconditions."

Today's press conference was mostly devoted to the Armenian-Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun and Heritage. "I don't know Heritage leaders. Who are they? They want to hold a gathering with 1000 people."

Today Galust Sahakyan unexpectedly began protecting Opposition leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan.

Sahakyan announced that he is offended by those politicians, or "so-called politicians" who attempt to improve their own ratings at ex-president Levon Ter-Petrosyan's expense.

"I shall never allow a young Republican to defame Levon Ter-Petrosyan as he was Armenia's first president. Even I don't have the right to criticize Levon Ter-Petrosyan."

To A1+'s question where he believes the limits of criticizing Levon Ter-Petrosyan end, Sahakyan said, "Do not believe my words."

The Republican Party will make no concessions in Armenian-Turkish relations and Karabakh conflict.

Galust Sahakyan recommended journalists to call on people to "pray for Serzh Sargsyan not to resign. We must teach our people to pray for Serzh Sargsyan never to think about resignation otherwise we will find ourselves in a whirl."
