"If there are two good Madrid Principles-Karabakh's right to self-determination and the interim status (although I don't understand what's good about them because Karabakh has expressed its self-determination a long time ago and there is no need to prove it to the world), what about the rest of the negative principles according to which, for instance, the seven regions must be handed. We will destroy our defense line if we hand one or half a region," says chairman of the Democratic Party of Armenia Aram Sargsyan.

The Democratic Party of Armenia has presented Serzh Sargsyan with a proposal to draft and present a new conceptual approach called the "Yerevan Principles" instead of the "Madrid Principles" for the resolution of the Artsakh conflict.

The principles proposed by the party are more of a plan for actions. "The sides agree to start three simultaneous processes and the results will slowly turn the success of the political negotiations into a reality, including the signing of a reconciliation treaty that is in effect until the end of negotiations and serves as a basis for refusing any propaganda that instills enmity, implementation of measures aimed at forming an atmosphere of confidence and mutual understanding between the societies of both sides and allow the implementation of intermediated cooperation plans that will create preconditions for the NKR's participation in regional projects in order to have direct contact with Azerbaijan."

Aram Sargsyan took note that these actions may benefit the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in a time when Azerbaijan refuses all possible versions for a peaceful resolution. He recalled that there are some versions for the conflict resolution that are rejected by all sides, including political, legal, maintenance of status-quo, possible creation of a union and eradicating issues of economic cooperation.

As for Azerbaijan's war-like declarations, Aram Sargsyan said:

"If they are sure that they will win the war, 1994 was not enough for them." Besides that, Aram Sargsyan is confident that the global community will not allow military operations for even a day. The party leader also advised Azerbaijan to learn from Sahakashvili who tried to solve an issue through war.

Aram Sargsyan also stated that the issue concerning the seized Armenian lands, particularly the issue of Nakhijevan, which was handed to Azerbaijan according to the beloved Kars treaty as a protectorate and is simply subject to annexation, must be a pivotal issue in the negotiations.
