Relatives of those sentenced to life in prison still haven't received a reply to the letter they handed to Serzh Sargsyan and Public Council Chairman Vazgen Manukyan with the demand to reconsider the issue concerning the prisoners sentenced to life.
There are currently 81 prisoners sentenced to life in prison of which 42 were sentenced to execution during Soviet times and 12,000 people have given their consent to reconsider the issue of the prisoners.
As mother of one of the prisoners Mher Yenokyan said, they are not losing hope and continue to wait. According to her, those subject to execution during the Soviet years must be released after 15 years of imprisonment through amnesty, but Robert Kocharyan did not declare amnesty and simply replaced execution with life in prison.
This issue remains unsolved not only in Armenia, but in the former Soviet countries as well," says Mher Yenokyan's mother.
