Addressed Syrian Armenians
Presidents of Armenia and Syria Serzh Sargsyan and Bashar Al-Assad participated in the opening ceremony of the Syrian-Armenian business forum held today at the Government House.
In his speech Serzh Sargsyan mentioned:
"The friendship between Syria and Armenia is strong and our countries are currently creating warm and dynamically developing relations in which there must be equal levels of political and economic cooperation. This aim is not only a kind wish, but a reachable target, especially since Syrian Armenian businessen are involved in business in Syria. I consider the political will of Armenia and, I am sure, the will of Syria aimed at strengthening ties and creating a mutually favorable business environment as one of the means of implementing this goal. During our meetings, the main focus has been issues relating to development of trade and economic relations between both countries. The Syrian President unfortunately mentioned that the current level of trade/economic relations does not fully correspond to the friendly tiees and political relations.
With that said, I would like to emphasize the role of our fellow Armenians living in Syria. I would like to ask you to take advantage of your opportunities and business contacts to help identify the potential of Armenian and Syrian businessmen and present the products of both countries," said Sargsyan.
