ANC is second in Arabkir
"These were traditional Armenian elections that have never been free and fair," President of the Armenian Helsinki Committee Avetik Ishkhanyan said today.
Ishkhanyan came to this conclusion taking into account the overall picture of the elections.
The Armenian Helsinki Committee and the "Urban" Stable Development Fund jointly implemented an observation in 49 polling stations at the Arabkir district and 100 observers participated in the observation on the day of the vote for the Council of Elders.
"There was no large-scale electoral fraud in Arabkir. The elections in this district were better than other polling stations," said Avetik Ishkhanyan and went into detail regarding the violations that he had registered.
According to their observations, there were pile-ups of voters in a number of voting stations. As a result, there was a lot of commotion in the polling stations and the processes started getting out of control. In some polling stations, police officers also took part in the counting of votes. There were group votes, open votes and cases when voters were not oriented.
"Observers noticed people who were coming and going with lists of voters and voters made attempts to vote with a copy of the passport or the passport of others," said Avetik Ishkhanyan.
According to the results, the Republicans received the majority of votes in Arabkir, ANC comes in second and the Prosperous Armenia party had an even larger difference of votes.
"There were polling stations where the ANC won and there were polling stations where the Prosperous Armenia won," said Avetik Ishkhanyan.
Touching upon the evaluations of OSCE observers, he said: "I can't understand them. I have no explanation."
