Serzh Sargsyan’s wish
"Political parties had equal opportunities to freely express themselves to the public about their development programs and outlooks for Yerevan," says Serzh Sargsyan, adding that he weighs in on the process as normal.
"I think that the television stations managed to provide balanced and objective coverage of the political parties' activities," Sargsyan added.
Journalists at Sardarapat asked Serzh Sargsyan who he would like to see in the Council of Elders.
"As resident of Yerevan and as chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia, I believe that nobody has any doubts about what I want. Everybody knows my wish and I am pleased to see that the Republican Party managed to hold the campaign in an organized manner and anticipate the day of the elections with great opportunities. I am also pleased to see that our coalition-member "Prosperous Armenia" party demonstrated a serious approach to the elections and is currently among the leaders. I don't think that anyone doubts the role that "Prosperous Armenia" will have in municipal government in Yerevan. Of course, I would like to see our other coalition-member Orinats Yerkir reach success as well and the same goes for the Dashnaktsutyun. Being a constructive opposition, the Dashnaktsutyun can play a huge role in local government and its participation will only benefit Yerevan and the entire country."
In the end, Sargsyan added that both the authorities and the opposition and all political parties must be ready to accept the results of the elections.
"This is what we must make each citizen of Yerevan realize."
