Round-the-world navigation
On May 28, the "Armenia" ship will set out from the Spanish city of Valencia for a round-the-world trip through the paths of the Diaspora.
During the one-year voyage, the "Armenia" ship will travel to five continents, pass the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans and visit all Armenian communities.
Serzh Sargsyan met with the sailors before they embarked on their journey. Mentioning that many people doubt the importance of such a difficult voyage, the President said:
"The fate of our people has spread us across the globe and the map of our national identity, cultural heritage and our Armenian communities is extremely important for us."
According to Serzh Sargsyan, the symbol of this navigation is to newly revel and enrich that world. Sargsyan passed on the state flag of the Republic of Armenia to the sailors and according to custom, it will be returned at the moment.
The president wished the sailors a safe voyage and safe return. Writer-publicist Zori Balayan, who is also embarking on this voyage, thanked the President and said that they will update on the journey from time to time.
