Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Arman Kirakossian met today with the Iran-Armenia Amity Group of the Iranian Mejlis.

Welcoming members of the group, Arman Kirakossian mentioned that Iranian-Armenian relations are at a high-level and continue to develop in an environment of mutual confidence. The Deputy Foreign Minister evaluated the work of the Armenian National Assembly's Armenia-Iran and the Iranian Mejlis's Iran-Armenia Amity Groups as positive and noted that the mutual visits of the groups strengthen the inter-parliamentary relations.

Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, head of the group Arsalan Fatiipur underscored that Iran is interested in the further development of multifaceted relations with neighboring Armenia and the aim of the visit is to promote the bilateral cooperation in a number of spheres.

The sides also touched upon issues relating to regional security and stability.

Among members of the group were Armenian deputies of the Mejlis Robert Beglaryan and Gevorg Vardan.

The Iran-Armenian gas pipeline will launch this week and Armenia will start receiving gas from Iran. According to the bilateral contract signed in 2004, Armenia will pay 3 kilowatt/hour of energy for each cubic meter in exchange for the Iranian gas.
