Hilary Clinton reconfirmed U.S. position
Within the framework of a working visit to Washington, Armenia's Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian had a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Hilary Clinton.
Greeting the Armenian Foreign Minister, the US Secretary of State noted that the US was interested in the reinforcement and development of multifaceted relations with Armenia, and the Obama Administration was willing to expand the cooperation between the two countries.
The heads of foreign agencies of the two countries discussed a broad framework of issues connected with different spheres of bilateral relations, the opportunities of development and expansion of economic cooperation. Reference was made to the sitting of the Armenian-American Intergovernmental Commission to be held in Yerevan in May, a number of regional and international issues.
The interlocutors discussed the process of normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations. The Secretary of State assessed the April 2nd statement of the Foreign Ministries of Armenia and Turkey as historic. He confirmed the position of the United States to uphold the support to the full normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations.
The interlocutors discussed the latest developments in the process of settlement of the Karabakh conflict. Reference was made to the forthcoming meeting of the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan. State Secretary Clinton emphasized the importance of the peaceful resolution of the Artsakh issue and noted that as a co-chair of the Minsk Group, the US will continue its support for settlement of the conflict and will create new opportunities for the development, stability and reinforcement of security in the South Caucasus.
Minister Nalbandian presented to State Secretary Clinton the process of reforms implemented in Armenia and the steps taken in that direction.

On the same day, the Armenian FM met with National Security Adviser of the U.S. President, General James Johnes. The interlocutors discussed issues related to Armenia-USA partnership and regional security. Reference was made to Armenian-Turkish relations and the Karabakh conflict settlement. General Johnes voiced support to Armenia in the normalization of bilateral ties.
Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian met in Washington with chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Howard Berman, to brief on priorities of Armenia's foreign policy and to discuss regional security issues.
Minister Nalbandian also met with co-chairmen of the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues and appreciated highly their activities for strengthening of Armenian-American relations.
Normalization of Turkish-Armenian relations was also in focus.
