Demands the prosecutor’s resignation
The Armenian judicial system has turned into a system that only makes accusatory conclusions," president of the RA Chamber of Advocates Ruben Sahakyan said today. According to him, the judicial system is in a humiliating situation. The prosecutors do whatever they want and the investigative body does the same.
According to Ruben Sahakyan, the prosecutors pressure all bodies, including preliminary investigative bodies, judicial bodies, etc.
"The judges only care about themselves," Sahakyan said, adding that the prosecurtors maneuver to weaken the judges.
Ruben Sahakyan took note of the fact that when president of the Cassation Court Hovhannes Manukyan resigned from office and an outstanding advocate like Arman Mkrtumyan took office, Sahakyan and other advocates hoped that they would see some change in the judicial system, but it was the opposite. According to Sahakyan, the one to blame is Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan.
"We must demand his resignation."
Ruben Sahakyan said that he has a strictly negative opinion about Aghvan Hovsepyan, but that is professional and not personal.
He recalled Aghvan Hovsepyan's words to RA Ombudsman Armen Harutyunyan in which he had told the Ombudsman to bring evidence.
"There is only one evidence and that is the people's lack of trust in the judicial system."
