"Forward, Communists", Hooray!
The Armenian Communist Party held another May 1 parade with red flags, banners reading "Long Live May 1", drums and trumpets on the occasion of Labor Day.
Schoolchildren with red ties and hats were among the pensioners who had made their way from the regions to Yerevan.
The lines of Communists screaming "Hooray" made their way to Shahumyan square where flowers were laid near the statue after the speeches.
Although the march was not permitted, no incidents were registered.
"The parade was going to take place anyway. I will call out "Forward, Communists", nobody can stand in my way," said First Secretary of the Armenian Communist Party Ruben Tovmasyan before the parade.
Ruben Tovmasyan went on to say that he would have liked to see the Armenian authorities participate in the event as well.
