The zoo opened its doors
The Yerevan Zoo opens its doors to visitors every year on May 1. It is a special event for children and parents say that their children wait impatiently for this day to come.
Five-year old Sona was going to the zoo today to perform as a soloist in a children's song-dance group and on her way to the zoo, she told passengers on the bus that she was going to feed the swans herself.
The zoo administration made special preparations to make this day even more beautiful for the children. The park was decorated with balloons and visitors could see animals from fairy-tales.
As owner of the Yerevan Zoo Sahak Abovyan told "A1+", visitors will see many more surprises throughout the year. For example, the zoo has a new hippopotamus from Russia and has added more birds. There are also more bears at the zoo. Sahak Abovyan also said that a female elephant will join the male Grant elephant.
The mayor of Yerevan and other officials will also visit the zoo today.
