Facts are being cleared up and an investigation of the event is underway

RA Police did not know about the beating of editor/coordinator of Armenia Today electronic newspaper Argishti Kiviryan until midday and only an hour after we called did they release information about the event on their website.

Today at 5:30 a.m. the RA Police Central Division received an alarm from the "Erebuni" medical center that head of the "Bagin" attorney office Argishti Kiviryan, 37, had asked for medical aid with the "politrauma" diagnosis.

Kiviryan was in critical condition and was not able to provide the operative group that had left for the scene with information. Kiviryan's wife Lusine Sahakyan told police that on the same day at around 5:00 a.m. a group of anonymous people had attacked her husband in the entrance of his home on 9 Nalbandyan Street and fled the scene

A forensic examination of the event and investigation of facts are underway.

The RA Police did not provide us with any other details regarding the event.

Journalist, expert Mesrop Harutyunyan underscored the following in a conversation with "A1+":

"Any similar assault is condemnable and it does not matter who is assaulted, especially if the assault is against a journalist or an advocate."
