Armenian-Turkish relations draw a wide response
I welcome the joint statement of Armenia and Turkey on the normalization of relations. The news is really good for the two countries and for the whole Europe," said Javier Solano, the European Union High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy.
"The agreement is a vital investment promoting peace, security and stability in a key region of Europe. I welcome the countries' optimism and valour. I call on the parties to continue negotiations over the road-map which will help better relations in the near future.
The European Union is ready to support the parties in this context. I would like to extend my gratitude to Switzerland for taking the role of a mediator between the countries under question."
Note that Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will soon visit Azerbaijan to meet with the country's top officials. The meeting is supposed to cover to the latest developments of Armenian-Turkish relations.
