The "Armenian Volunteers' Union" national political initiative condemns the 10-year verdict reached on imprisonment against coordinator of the "United Javakhk" democratic alliance Vahagn Chakhalyan last week in Tbilisi.

The political persecutions against Vahagn Chakhalyan and the "United Javakhk" democratic alliance is aimed at the strengthening of the lack of awareness of the Armenian population of Javakhk, eradication of culture and the decline in number of Armenians.

Despite that, the current RA authorities have also taken part in throwing the reputation and imprisoning the "United Javakhk" alliance.

They have collaborated with the Georgian authorities to draft and implement the act of "neutralizing" the activists fighting for security of Armenians of Javakhk and the defense of their rights.

In October 2006 the assassination attempt against Vahagn Chakhalyan in Yerevan, the arrest that followed was another signal from the RA authorities to the Georgian authorities to reach the verdict of arresting and sentencing Chakhalyan. as stated in the statement.
