Cutting back on some expenses

The government adopted a resolution today on making changes and additions to Resolution N 1573 of 2008 December 25, regulating the process of fulfilling duties on the account of the state budget and a number of other issues. The government also passed the projects adjunct to the resolution, including the provisional cutback of certain expenditures.

The government assigned heads of RA executive bodies and proposed RA legislative and judicial bodies and prosecutors to present substantiated proposals to the RA Ministry of Finances within five days.

It was established that the changes made in the deals signed before the adoption of the resolution are funded taking into account the foreseen limits and they are made within a month.

The RA Minister of Finances was assigned to present the proposals for the resolution and the bill of the resolution to the RA government, as well as organize a consultation at the RA Ministry of Finances on March 16 at 3 p.m. with major financiers of state governmental organizations to discuss the order of fulfilling the demands.

The government also assigned to temporarily terminate the drafting of the plan for state mid-term expenditures for 2010-2012 by order established by the RA government.

With regards to that the Prime Minister said that it is possible and Armenia must overcome the domestic and foreign challenges posed during the current global financial/economic crisis.

"There is a lot of uncertainty and nobody knows how the events will develop. We are making the transition to planning a quarterly budget and will sum up the results of each quarter and plan for the next quarter. The articles that remain are on social programs, salaries, pensions, etc. There will be restrictions on all other expenditures. This is the approach," said Tigran Sargsyan.
