Armenian-Georgian relations were the topic on the agenda at the National Assembly today. Deputies understood only one word from the speech made by Chairman of the Georgian parliament David Bakradze in Georgian and that word was thanks.

Perhaps some NA deputies knew Georgian more or less, but everyone applauded the speech made by Bakradze. In his speech, Bakradze said:

"History and, I am certain, the promising future unite the people of Georgia and Armenia. I am happy to see that relations between both countries have progressed in the past couple of years."

The head of the Georgian parliament brought up the field of tourism as an example of progress for which the Armenian side has made several investments.

"There are more and more Armenians spending their vacation in the Ajarian region of Georgia and Gudauri. We are ready to take steps to enhance the mentioned progress to attract more tourists and investors and hope that Georgian tourists and investors will also show interest."

Bakadze also touched upon the region and the moods in the countries of the region.

"State and regional security interests require Georgia and Armenia to take into account mutual interests and maintain friendly ties regardless of what kind of relations we have with neighboring and non-neighboring countries."

Bakradze did not cover issues concerning Armenians residing in Georgia, particularly Armenians of Javakhk.
