Hasn't the Committee met its commitments?
Support A1+!Today the Heritage Party raised a number of questions in the National Assembly. The parliamentary opposition wondered why the activity of the NA ad hoc Committee looking into the events of March 1-2 should be extended and whether the Committee hasn't met its commitments.
The other parliamentary forces seem content with the Committee's work and say the terms of the Committee's activity should be extended.
Orinats Yerkir Party (OYK) member Heghine Bisharyan called on the Armenian parliament to prolong the Committee's activity in order to avail them an opportunity to finish the work.
"Every time an attempt is made to delude the society. The National Assembly must work to make a final opinion," said the leader of the Republican Party (HHK) Galust Sahakyan.
Heritage MP Anahit Bakhshyan noted that the Committee has failed to answer to most concerning questions: who opened fire on March 1, who gave the order to shoot, etc.
What was your conclusion on the application of gas powered special device "Cheryomukha-7"? How long does the Committee need to come up with an opinion?" wondered Mrs. Bakhshyan. Then she added that the Committee hasn't heard the opinions of first President Levon Ter-Petrosyan and acting President Serzh Sargsyan.
In reply to journalists' questions Chairman of the NA ad hoc Committee Samvel Nikoyan said: "We are all responsible for the Committee's effective work. I have organised meetings and discussions with the heads of parliamentary fractions. I cannot say for sure whether the Committee will end its work by September or not. It depends on the investigative agency".
He reminded that the Committee had convened two sittings to disclose the murders of the ten victims of March 1. A group of top officials have been invited to examination. Mr. Nikoyan confessed that the Committee had been close to identify people using "Cheryomukha-7", but two examinations were held in Russian commissions. The first studied the engineering data "Cheryomukha-7" and its application, and the second dealt with the issue of identification.
Identification is impossible, said the Russian experts. It was surely bad news for the Committee.
Anyway, the Committee will work till September 15. Only the Heritage voted down the bill. But their opinion didn't affect the outcome of the vote.
