PUPILS ARE GETTING FEWER AND FEWER
The secondary school of Lori’s Martsi village has about 109 pupils. The 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th forms are grouped.
Families keep leaving the village therefore students are becoming fewer and fewer. As schools are financed according to the number of pupils, families’ removal directly affects the school budget. The money is not enough to pay the salaries of 18 teachers let alone the maintenance or renewal of the property.
The school also needs specialists as most teachers do not higher education. Seven of them are already taking correspondence courses, and another two come from Vanadzor. The school doesn’t have a teacher of chemistry.
