MORE PEOPLE DIAGNOSED WITH CANCER

Regions

Over 1384 patients are registered in the Oncological Department of Lori’s Hospital N1. This year the number of patients has gone up by 228.

Oncologist Narine Kalashyan says 19 patients are under 18. The oncologist says they have more patients this year as people began to take care of their health and see doctors more frequently.

Mrs. Kalashyan says neoplasms are found in breasts, genito-urinary organs, digestive tract and lungs. Lung cancer is largely found among men.

Death rate from cancer has steadily declined this year. 148 people died of cancer while in 2007 there were 205 deaths.

88 people received a course of chemotherapy in the department in 2008.
