ACCIDENT ON THE DAY OF THE “LAST BELL”

On June 11 the pupils of the tenth form of village Brnakot (Sisian region) left for the area called “Taq Jur” in the Vorotan canyon to have a snack. At about 06:00 PM the schoolgirls posed on a high stone right beside the canyon in order to take a photo.

One of them, Karine Mkrtchyan, slipped and fell into the water taking two other girls with her. Their classmate called Yura managed to save the lives of the two girls. Karine's dead body was found four hours ago. There was no teacher with the pupils.

Today the pupils were taking their school-leaving exam in Armenian. Karine's desk was empty, with a black ribbon tied to the chair.

It is noteworthy that Karine was the fourth of the six children of her family.
