For the last most the level of Lake Sevan has risen for 25 centimeters. According to the Gegharqounik regional department of «ArmHydroMet», at present the lake is 1898, 42 meters above the sea level. The reason is the heavy rains of April and the partial overflow of the rivers falling into the Sevan.

The raise of the level of the lake raises another problem – that of the trees which remain under water. Hambardzoum Hambardzoumyan, the head of the Gegharqounik regional administration of environmental protection mentions that the shores of the lake must be cleaned of the vegetation in order not to pollute the lake.
