THIRD OPERATOR TO ARRIVE IN ARMENIA
Support A1+!Armenia will have a third operator in the sphere of telecommunications at the end of August. The tender is due in May, 2008. The competitive commission is already set up.
“The commission has already set criteria for the tender participants,” the press secretary of the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) of the Republic of Armenia, Mariam Stepanian told A1+.
She says RA minister of Transportation and communication Andranik Manukian has been elected chairman of the commission.
According to the PSRC press secretary the new operator will undoubtedly bring down mobile communication costs. “Apparently, with the arrival of a third operator, prices will go down at the market. Rise in prices is surely excluded in this case. I cannot guarantee a healthy competition, but I can say one thing for sure, the third operator will promote race.”
