DEMAND FOR WATER RUN UP IN ARMENIA
Support A1+!The State Water Economy Committee head Gagik Martirossyan said at today’s meeting, taking into consideration the difficulties the republic agriculture faced this year, the government decided to leave either wholesale or retail prices without any changes though is was planned to add 1dram to the price for 1 cubic metre.
Speaking on Lake Sevan waters using issue, Martirossyan said the Committee requested 150 million cubic metres of water taking in account of widening areas to be irrigated. After discussion the government decided to let out 120 million cubic metres from Sevan for irrigation. In 2002 98 million cubic metres were taken from the lake.
