RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan met today with newly appointed Israeli Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Shemi Yur.
During the discussion Tigran Sargsyan and Shemi Yur shared the opinion that Armenian-Israeli ties are entering a new phase of development and that new political and economic relations are emerging for both countries.
Touching upon the perspective for strengthening of trade relations between Armenia and Israel, Tigran Sargsyan underlined diamond-cutting, agriculture, healthcare and reinforcement of cooperation in other fields, use of Israel’s experience, as well as the importance of promoting new initiatives.
Shemi Yur noted that Israel has managed to minimize the impact of the global financial/economic fallout on the country’s economy through a number of programs and is ready to share the experience with Armenia.
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan asked the Ambassador to inform him about the results of the Knesset elections, the inter-political situation in the country and future developments in Israel under the incoming political administration. The sides also touched upon the discussions on approval of the Armenian Genocide resolution by the Knesset and the possibilities. Upon the request of the Ambassador Tigran Sargsyan presented the official position and approaches of Armenia on relations with countries of the region.
During the meeting Shemi Yuri expressed gratitude for the cordial treatment towards the Jewish community of Armenia, cooperation with the community on projects aimed at developing relations between Armenia and Israel which, according to him, contributes to the reinforcement of friendly ties between the two countries and peoples.
At the end of the meeting Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan wished the ambassador success in his mission in Armenia.
