Today marked the 111th anniversary of two-time hero of the Soviet Union, Marshal Hovhannes Baghramyan. In light of this, a celebration was organized today on the avenue named after him and among participants were representatives of the RA Defense Ministry, students of the “Pokr Mher” cadet/scout school and the Monte Melkonyan military/sport school-the successors of Marshal Baghramyan.

Soldiers, president of the Union of Veterans of the Armed Forces Hrant Hovhannisyan, NA Deputy, Baghramyan’s compatriot and leader of the Democracy and Labor Party Spartak Melikyan, as well as students of the Monte Melkonian school and the Argentinean school on Baghramian street made their speeches.

Although Baghramyan Street is part of the Arabkir district, head of the Kentron district Gagik Beglaryan also participated in the event. According to the press release of the Defense Ministry, Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan also had to put flowers near the statue of Marshal Hovhannes Baghramyan, but he couldn’t make it to the event.
