MEETINGS IN LONDON
Support A1+!RA Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan met with British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs David Miliband. During the meeting the sides discussed a broad range of issues of bilateral, regional and international concern.
Touching upon bilateral relations, Minister Nalbandyan said that Armenia stresses the importance of the development of the multifaceted cooperation with Great Britain, which is one of the leading countries in Europe.
Minister Nalbandyan and Secretary of State Miliband discussed in detail issues relating to the resolution of regional conflicts. In that context, Minister Nalbandyan presented Armenia’s stance on the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and expressed the hope that the sides will be able to reach a solution to the conflict through mutual political will.
Upon Miliband’s request, Edward Nalbandyan informed Miliband of the possibilities of the normalization of Turkish-Armenian ties and underlined that the goal is the complete rapprochement and that Armenia is willing to continue the steps.
During the meeting with UK Minister for Europe Caroline Flint the sides discussed the Armenia-European Union cooperation, particularly the process of completion of the European Neighborhood policy Action Plan, as well as the cooperation between Armenia and Great Britain in the framework of the policy. Ministers Nalbandyan and Flint also touched upon regional issues, particularly the perspectives for solution to conflicts and the reinforcement of bilateral relations.
Yesterday the Armenian Foreign Minister visited the House of Lords of the United Kingdom where he met with members of the Armenian-British Friendship parliamentary group who had prepared a dinner in honor of Minister Eduard Nalbandyan.
The Minister’s schedule also includes a speech at the Chatam House, an interview with BBC radio, meeting with the Armenian Community of Britain, as well as a meeting with UK Special Representative for the South Caucasus Sir Brian Fall.
