Official

On October 23 the 19th meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the member states of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organisation took place in Tirana.

The sitting agenda included issues connected with the deepening of economic cooperation between Black Sea countries, furthering the EU-BSEC cooperation and raising the efficiency of the organisation’s activity.

The Foreign Minister of Armenia, Edward Nalbandian, made an addressing speech at the meeting. The Armenian Foreign Minister noted that despite the success achieved by the organisation, BSEC needs reforms to raise its effectiveness, and the member states should make efforts in this direction.

Presenting the priorities of Armenia’s chairmanship of BSEC, Edward Nalbandian pointed to the following directions: development of mutually beneficial cooperation between BSEC and international organisations, fostering the cooperation in the field of energy, development of regional transport and communication infrastructures and deepening of cooperation in the field of nature protection.

Following the ministerial meeting the Foreign Minister of Albania Lulzim Basha officially handed over the BSEC chairmanship to the Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian. The official ceremony was followed by the joint press conference of the two FMs and the Secretary General of BSEC Leonidas Chrisanthopoulos.
