Official

Today President of Armenia Serzh Sargssian met his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev in Moscow.

Opening the meeting Russian President Dmitry Medvedev noted that the first stage of the bilateral negotiations is over. The developing relations between Armenia and Russia were discussed; reference was made to political issues, including the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

“Now we propose to focus on trade-economic relations. The progress is sufficient in this regard: there is considerable growth of commodity income, and the sum is already approaching $1 billion, which is a good result. The mutual investments are also growing. In particular, Russian investments have already exceeded $1.2 billion. This is an essential threshold for our relations, and a very good basis for further development of trade-economic relations,” the Russian President said, noting that the two countries cooperate in the cultural sphere, as well: “The Year of Russia was held in Armenia and the Year of Armenia was held in Russia.” According to Dmitry Medvedev, “These were interesting events organized and useful efforts targeted at the future of the two countries.”

RA President Serzh Sargsyan invited Medvedev to Armenia, thanked for invitation and warm reception, and expressed confidence that the relations between the two countries will further develop. The Armenian President also noted that the development of cooperation in the humanitarian sphere is also important. “We must convey the best we have to the coming generation.”
