ARMENIA ESTABLISHES DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS WITH LIECHTENSTEIN

Official

On May 7 RA Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian and the Foreign Minister of Lichtenstein Rita Kieber-Beck signed a protocol on establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Armenia and Lichtenstein. The ceremony was followed by a private discussion at which the Ministers expressed willingness to develop the intergovernmental ties and launch cooperation on bilateral and international levels in the economical, cultural and scientific fields.

The Principality of Liechtenstein is situated in Western Europe, bordered by Switzerland in the west and Austria in the east. It is the smallest German-speaking country in the world. The reigning prince of Liechtenstein, who presently is Hans-Adam II, is the head of state and, as such, represents Liechtenstein in its international relations. Executive authority is vested in a collegial government comprising the head of government, Prime Minister Otmar Hasler.

On the same day RA Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian met the Minister for European Affairs of the Netherlands Frans Timmermans in Strasbourg. The parties discussed issues of bilateral, regional and international importance. They observed that the relations between the two countries need additional stimulus and stressed the importance of strengthening communication in future.

RA Foreign Minister presented the priorities of Armenian Government, laying emphasis especially on deepening of cooperation with European structures, and intensification of foreign economic relations. In this context the two ministers discussed the opportunities of attracting Dutch investments into a number of spheres of the Armenian economy, especially agriculture, communication and transport.
