RA AMBASSADORS HAVE NOT ACQUIRED CARS
Support A1+!The German DPA agency has disseminated information, according to which, diplomats representing Armenia in Buenos Aires have appeared in the list of diplomats of 30 countries. The Foreign Ministry of Argentina suspects them in importing cars illegally and has started the investigation of the case. The “Liberty” Radio Station asked The Spokesman of the Armenian Foreign Ministry Vladimir Karapetyan to comment on this information.
“The information published in “Clarin” newspaper and disseminated by the German DPA agency on 23 January 2008 does not correspond to the reality,- said Vladimir Karapetyan,- no Armenian diplomat in Argentina has ever acquired a car for private interests and has never participated in deals pursuing income”.
According to him, the RA Embassy in Argentina has one Honda Accord car, which was presented to the Embassy by the Armenian sponsor Eduardo Seferyan in 2006 and one Ford Focus, which was bought in 2007.
“It is worthwhile to note, that the Argentinean “La Ncion” newspaper which has published a similar article does not mention the names of Armenian diplomats. An investigation is undertaken by the initiative of the Foreign Minister of Argentina Jorge E. Taiana. Some high-ranking officials were released from their posts in Argentina. The RA Embassy has sent a letter to the editor-in-chief of “Clarin” newspaper demanding to refute of disinformation”, said Vladimir Karapetyan.
