KOCHARIAN: ELECTIONS WERE FREE, FAIR AND TRANSPARENT

“The NA elections were largely in accordance with international commitments. The Central Electoral Commission, local and international observers confirm that the elections were free, fair and transparent,” the President said.
Robert Kocharian congratulated the Armenian people for the will to hold democratic elections. Armenian citizens made another step towards democratic values. “The amended Electoral Code promoted to the conduction of free elections. All the key participants of the electoral process - commission members, candidates, parties and proxies, acted within the framework of the law. Falsifications and shortcomings will be studied in due time to restore legitimacy.”
“The pre-election period has its rules and peculiarities. Very often differences between political views result in a clash of interests and heated disputes. One of the characteristics of democracy is the ability to recover in post-election period and to restore the atmosphere of mutual respect and tolerance. Even close friends, neighbhours and relatives may have political conflicts. I am sure that no conflict will affect human relations. ”
