USA TO SUPPORT ARMENIA IN SOCIAL SPHERE
Support A1+!March 23, 2007 - RA Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Aghvan Vardanyan and US Embassy Charge d'Affaires Anthony Godfrey signed a cooperation treaty thus announcing the launch of USAID's Social Protection Systems Strengthening (SPSS) project, 2007-2011- a project aimed at strengthening Armenia’s social protection system.
The project is aimed at enhancing RA Government’s institutional and human resources capacity and to broaden the abilities of NGOs realizing social services. “The project provisions will secure inter-influence between the labor market and social protection system” noted Emmy Remm, director of “Services Group” Company implementing the SPSS project.
US Embassy Charge d'Affaires Anthony Godfrey said, “The project enables Armenia to modernize the Social Protection Systems. We have already implemented a joint project of 20 million USD over the past six years. But there is still much to be done to secure the on-going system.
