WILL LITHUANIA SUPPORT ARMENIA IN THE MEMBERSHIP IN EU?

RA Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan met President of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus in the hotel complex «Marriott Armenia» today.

The Prime Minister mentioned that Armenia find cooperation with Lithuania important in the field of integration into the European structures taking into account their experience. Andranik Margaryan informed that the third phase of negotiations about the Action Plan EU-Armenia within the framework of the European neighborhood program will take place in May of the current year and voiced hope that the plan will be adopted in the course of the year 2006 after which, according to him, our country is ready to discuss the possibilities of cooperation with Lithuania within the framework of the realization of the action plan.

Finding international regional initiatives important, Valdas Adamkus informed that on May 4-5 of the current year a summit of the Baltic and Black Sea countries will take place in Vilnius in which the high officials of about 15 countries will participate, including Armenia, the USA, the EU and the NATO.

The Prime Minister also briefed the Lithuanian President on the present state of the relations of Armenia with the regional countries.
