ARMENIA JOINING NORTH-SOUTH PASSAGEWAY

The third session of the North-South passageway coordinating council took place in New Delhi in which delegations from 14 countries participated.

Armenia was represented by the RA Minister of Transportation Hrant Beglaryan, and the Armenian Ambassador to India Ashot Kocharyan. On October 20 the heads of the delegations from the countries which were authors of the North-South passageway agreement (Russia, Iran, India), as well as from Armenia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Belarus and Turkey, made speech.

Hrant Beglaryan mentioned the importance of the passageway in his speech and underlined that Armenia officially announced about its intention to join the passageway in 2001.

At present the RA Government has received the agreement of the founding countries about its joining the passageway. The next session of the coordinating council will be convened in 2006 in Kazakhstan.
